What is Apartment 5?
On the New Years Eve of December 31, 2002, Apartment 5 made its debut performance at 2910 W. Brainerd St in Pensacola, Florida. They played a lineup of two songs. The first song, "Stand By Me," had everybody off the edge of their seats as Jonathan Alicdan (vocals) impressed many audience members. Backing him up was his brother, Jeremie (bass), leading axman Nathaniel Russel (guitars), and Daniel Miguel Figuerrez Jr. II (drums). Michelle Figuerrez, Tracy Taino, and Mark Taino also backed up Jonathan as backup voices. The second song called "Robot Parade," a song from the band, They Might Be Giants, got the audience going crazy as Jonathan did the robot parade dance. It was an impressive show, but this show would be Apartment 5's first and last performance. Hopefully, we will see some sort of reincarnation from the members of Apartment 5 into the newer upcoming band, Apartment 6. Apartment 5 was a band that practically formed overnight. Four people, Jonathan (vocals), Nathan (guitar), Jeremie (bass), and Danny (drums) decided they would play for a new years celebration at their local church. And so, they prepared a lineup of two songs the night before and they played for an audience that had no real choice in what they were about to listen to. Surprisingly, the band didn't do so bad as was expected. Lead singer Jonathan impressed many people with his unknown ability to sing. The first song, Stand By Me, grabbed many people's attention as Jonathan impressed many. Nathan also impressed the crowd with his amazing soloing abilities on the guitar. After the show, many wanted autographs. The girls flocked around Apartment 5 only to see Jonathan and to mock the rest of the band. Apartment 5 got it's name from apartment 5 where they filmed the exclusive Kadiwa/Binhi scary movie also shown that night at the celebration. Not surprisingly, the film gained much more recognition than the band did that night. From an exclusive interview with the newly famed singer, Jonathan quotes "Apartment 5 sucks." And so, Apartment 5, recognizing a speck of fame from not more than 1/1,000,000,000 of the world population goes down in history and will be remembered for all time as "the band that sucks."
